The Children's Shelter's newest program is enabled and operated by a grant with the Kansas Department of Children and Families (DCF). The goal are to strengthen and preserve families who have come to the attention of DCF for non-abuse or neglect reasons and to maintain children safely in the home. The emphasis is on empowering families to recognize current strengths and available resources, and then to identify solutions to mitigate current stressors and issues.

This program started in July 2017 and serves the DCF east region which includes 25 counties running from the Nebraska to Oklahoma borders. The grant is expected to serve 600 families over the next three years.
